This guide lists every charge that can be added to a hire with Steaze Car Rentals, what triggers it, and how much it is. If a charge isn't on this page, we don't make it. These figures match Schedules 1 and 3 of the Vehicle Hire Agreement.
The daily rate, plus one delivery and collection fee for your zone, plus fuel to bring the tank back to full. That's it. The bond is held and released — it isn't a cost.
The hire itself

Damage cover — your choice
Standard cover is included at no charge and you can hire on it. The paid options simply lower the most you would pay if the vehicle is damaged, and reduce or remove the bond we hold.

The paid options are a reduction in what we will recover from you. They are not an insurance policy and they are not sold on behalf of an insurer.
Whichever option you choose, the cap disappears if damage happens while you are breaking the rules in clause 12 of the Hire Agreement — a prohibited road, an unlisted driver, over the limit. Then you are liable for the full cost. Paid cover does not change that.

The bond is security we hold and give back. On a hire of 6 days or fewer we place a hold on your card; on 7 days or more we charge it as a deposit and refund it, because card holds expire after about a week. Either way it's released within 7 business days of return and inspection.
The excess is the most you pay toward damage or loss. It only applies if there's damage. The bond comes off it — it isn't charged on top. If someone else is at fault and we recover from them, we refund your excess.
The excess cap disappears if the damage happens while you're breaking the rules — driving on a prohibited road, an unlisted driver at the wheel, over the limit, or any of the other conduct in clause 12. Then you're liable for the full cost.
Kilometres

Fuel

Cleaning

Road dust on the outside is not a cleaning charge. Neither is a normal amount of use. We photograph the interior at handover and at collection, and we'll send you the photos with any charge. The Fair Wear & Tear Guide has examples of where the line sits.
Keys, fines and admin

| Missed delivery or collection | Zone fee again | Only if you're not there at the agreed time and haven't told us. A phone call avoids this. |

- Every charge above is a genuine estimate of what it costs us. Where the actual cost is lower, we charge the lower amount.
- We tell you what a charge is for before we take it, and give you an itemised explanation and photographs where relevant.
